McALLEN, Texas – Village in the Valley (ViVa) is excited to announce its 5th Annual Juneteenth “Perfecting Unity Celebration,” taking place Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary Road, Mission, Texas. This year’s event, made possible by the generous support of H-E-B as the Emancipation Sponsor, promises an inspiring evening of unity, culture, and celebration.
Highlighting the evening, Jeremiah Marshall, Morning Anchor at KVEO Channel 4, will serve as the event’s Emcee. Guests will also be welcomed on the Black Carpet Experience by Santiago Caicedo, Reporter for KRGV, who will be interviewing attendees and capturing the excitement as the celebration begins.
The “Perfecting Unity Celebration” commemorates Juneteenth, the nation’s oldest celebration marking the end of slavery in the United States. The event will feature delicious food, live gospel music, cultural performances, and a live auction, all supporting ViVa’s mission to elevate and unite the Black community while connecting cultures across the Rio Grande Valley.
Funds raised will benefit ViVa’s core programs, including scholarships for Black diaspora students, the Community Closet providing essential clothing to families in need, MLK Day service projects, and other initiatives that foster unity and opportunity in the region.
“We are honored to have H-E-B as our Emancipation Sponsor and grateful for the involvement of respected local journalists Jeremiah Marshall and Santiago Caicedo,” said Sabrina Walker Hernandez, Board Member of Village in the Valley. “Their participation, along with the support of our community, helps us create an event that truly celebrates freedom, progress, and unity.”
