RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) – Richmond city leaders and community members announced the time and place for the third annual Juneteenth Freedom 5K on Thursday morning.
The idea for the 5K came from Madison County hospitals and community members who wanted to promote a healthy activity.
Organizers were able to combine that activity into a Juneteenth event.
“We are embracing the national holiday of Juneteenth, where we are able to honor the literal steps of those who have truly traveled that historic journey in the past, and we are looking to see where that journey takes us going forward,” said Juneteenth Freedom 5K Chair Jason Marrion.
The third annual Juneteenth Freedom 5K will be held on June 28 at 8 a.m. at White Hall, and proceeds will benefit three charities in Madison County.
