KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Events and celebrations across the Kansas City area are commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
The Juneteenth holiday commemorates when Union soldiers traveled to Texas, on June 19, 1865, announcing that enslaved people had been freed.
