Juneteenth events happening across the Cape Fear region next month

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. (WECT) – Organizations across the Cape Fear region are inviting the community to celebrate Juneteenth with events throughout June.

ELIZABETHTOWN

Juneteenth Celebration Meet & Greet Vendor Setup

The Mt. Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration Meet & Greet Vendor Setup will be held on Wednesday, June 18.

Juneteenth Celebration Fireworks Extravaganza

The Mt. Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration Fireworks Extravaganza will be held on Thursday, June 19.

Juneteenth Celebration Farmers’ Day & Catch A Pig

The Mt. Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration Farmers’ Day & Catch A Pig will be held on Friday, June 20.

Juneteenth Celebration Parade and Hideaway Festivities

The Mt. Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration Parade and evening Hideaway Festivities will be held on Saturday, June 21. Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. at 805 W Broad St and the parade will begin at 11 a.m., with participants heading down W King Street. There will be colorful floats, marching bands, and more.

Juneteenth Celebration Cornhole ChampionshipThe Mt. Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration Cornhole Championship will be held on Sunday, June 22.

Juneteenth Gospel Fest

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington, NC, INC. is hosting the Juneteenth Gospel Fest on Sunday, June 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free and the location has yet to be announced.

Juneteenth US Colored Troops Tribute

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington, NC, INC. is hosting the Juneteenth US Colored Troops Tribute on Tuesday, June 17, at the Wilmington National Cemetery. The event is free.

Juneteenth Urban Hike and Luncheon

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington, NC, INC. is hosting a Juneteenth Urban Hike and Luncheon on Wednesday, June 18, at the MLK Center from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event is free.

Juneteenth Breakfast

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington, NC, INC. is hosting a Juneteenth Breakfast on Thursday, June 19, at Thalian Hall from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The event costs $35 per person.

Juneteenth Community Line Dance and Step Show

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington, NC, INC. is hosting the Juneteenth Community Line Dance and Step Show on Friday, June 20, at the MLK Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free.
