ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – It’s less than a week away from the annual Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival!
The parade goes through downtown and ends at Piedmont Park.
Juneteenth — on June 19 — commemorates the day the last enslaved people in the Confederacy learned about the Emancipation Proclamation.
Festival organizers say every year, the celebration gets even bigger.
“I see the melting pot of what Juneteenth is, and it’s not just an African-American thing at this point. It’s a citywide, nationwide and really a worldwide thing that people are coming out and demanding that freedom, is at the top of the agenda,” parade organizer Brad Lewis said.
Atlanta News First is proud to once again be the media sponsor of the Juneteenth Parade and Festival!
Live coverage of the parade will be on PeachtreeTV from noon to 2 p.m. The parade will also be available to watch on ANF+, available on Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, and YouTubeTV.
