Bristol Borough will celebrate Juneteenth on Saturday, June 14, along the waterfront.

The Lower Bucks Juneteenth Committee is hosting the event at the Bristol Borough wharf from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Attendees can expect entertainment, food vendors, a kids’ corner and community resources.

Organizers call the event a “summer celebration of culture.”

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved people they were free. The announcement came more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Juneteenth was signed into law as an official federal holiday in 2021 by then-President Joe Biden.
