ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) – The Albert Lea Convention & Visitors Bureau (ALCVB) is inviting residents and visitors to join in commemorating Juneteenth.
The celebration will be taking place on Thursday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Edgewater Bay Pavilion.
ALCVB says this special evening is to honor the significance of Juneteenth as the day that symbolizes the end of slavery in the United States.
Activities that day will include a special program in honor of educator and advocate John Smith; a special tribute presented by Holly Babcock; an art raffle to raise funds for ongoing efforts toward Juneteenth events and awareness; as well as a water balloon fight at Edgewater Bay Park.

A special hour with refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the evening concluding with the water ballon fight.
