BENTON, Ark. (KATV) — Get ready to kick off Juneteenth celebrations in style this Saturday at Ralph Bunche Park in Benton, Arkansas.
The fourth annual event promises a day filled with fun, food, and a splash of history from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organizers have lined up a variety of activities, including inflatables, a DJ, and a city-versus-community kickball game. Special Events Manager Lauren Brown and Recreation Programmer Alex Richardson spoked about the importance of the event.
Brown welcomed all. “Anybody’s welcome to come. You don’t have to live in Saline County to attend,” she said.
The event is free, and attendees are crossing their fingers for good weather.
A highlight of the day will be a showcase by Miss Carolyn Williams, who will present her quilted history from El Dorado, Arkansas.
The event also features a proclamation from black-owned businesses and a variety of vendors offering everything from therapy services to farmers market goods.
For those looking to snag some swag, the first 100 guests will receive a free T-shirt. “We’ve ordered plenty, so it’s first come, first serve,” said Brown.
The celebration is not just about fun; it’s also about community and education.
“It’s just good for people to be involved and to get our name out there,” said Brown. The event aims to bring people together and educate them about the significance of Juneteenth.
Looking ahead, Benton Parks and Recreation has more events planned, including a back-to-school glove run and an inclusive dance luau in August.

So, mark your calendars and join the festivities this Saturday at Ralph Bunche Park. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the event will move to the community center. Come for the fun, stay for the fellowship, and leave with a deeper understanding of Juneteenth.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
