Black History Columbus is has launched the 2025 Community Juneteenth Calendar — a month-long celebration featuring nine dynamic events across the city of Columbus.

Carefully curated to honor the legacy of Juneteenth while creating opportunities for education, reflection, and joy, the calendar includes events for all ages and backgrounds, with a strong focus on Black history, empowerment, and unity.

“We always aim to promote community, culture and collaboration,” said organizers with Black History Columbus. “We’re excited to continue the momentum from Black History Month and invite the entire community to join us in honoring Juneteenth.”

This years calendar is sponsored by Toyota and The African American Foundation.

Featured events include:

June 6th: Author Reading and Book Signing at Viewpoint Books, highlighting Black authors and storytelling that uplifts, educates, and inspires.

June 7th: Hair Love, a powerful event celebrating natural hair and encouraging self-love and acceptance of all textures and styles. This event is sponsored by Stunna’s Meal Prep and Lemonade Bros.

June 14th: 5K Freedom Walk, hosted by Empower 365, promoting health, unity, and reflection on the journey toward liberation.

June 19th: Black Heritage Trail Ribbon Cutting, a historic unveiling of permanent markers honoring Black-owned businesses from the early 19th and 20th centuries, celebrating the legacy and impact of Black entrepreneurship in Columbus. This is hosted by Landmark Columbus and The African American Foundation.

June 21st: City-wide Juneteenth Family Reunion at The Lex, hosted by the NAACP, Paths to Success, Columbus Enrichment Program, Umoja, and BCPL and sponsored by Cummins, African American Pastors Alliance and the African American Foundation of Bartholomew County (AAF). This signature event will feature food, live music, games, and cultural celebration for the whole family.

June 21st: Juneteenth After-Party Celebration, hosted by Columbus Young Professionals of Color, bringing the community together for a vibrant night of music, dancing, and networking.

June 22nd: Second Baptist 146th Church Anniversary, celebrates the oldest African American Church in Columbus Indiana. The service will feature music, worship and a message of hope for the future.

June 28th: Community Blood Drive, hosted by Bespoke Events in partnership with Verisiti of Indiana and Columbus Regional Health, honoring the spirit of giving and collective care.

In the spirit of partnership, The BCPL Express Bus and will provide free books to the community at several of these events.
