Head to Indy’s Global Village on June 14 for a Juneteenth exhibit and celebration.

The event will feature talks, musical performances, historical reenactments, food sampling, a market featuring Black-owned businesses and Juneteenth history exhibits. Actor Corin Rogers, who portrayed “Pooter” in the 1975 movie “Cooley High,” will make an appearance.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of emancipation of enslaved Black people in the United States. On June 19, 1865, about 2,000 U.S. troops, including the Black soldiers from the Indianapolis-based 28th Indiana Infantry Regiment, entered Galveston, Texas to announce that the 250,000 enslaved people in the state were free.

The event will be from noon to 4 p.m. at 4233 Lafayette Road. Tickets are $10.
