The sounds of soul, R&B, jazz and reggae could be heard Saturday afternoon around the SteelStacks complex, as people gathered to enjoy a Juneteenth festival.

Juneteenth Lehigh Valley, an organization honoring the holiday that memorializes the day Black enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were freed in 1865, put on the festival celebrating freedom.

The festival showcased theatrical presentations and a variety of live music, including a tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, ethnic vendors and food trucks.

There were plenty of activities for children including storytelling, arts and crafts, and fine arts displays.
