CBS Austin is learning new details Friday about the deadly Juneteenth celebration mass shooting in Round Rock as court documents are released for the third suspect.

Court documents reveal the shooting stemmed from a dispute between rival rap groups and that while firing, 18-year-old Keshawn Leray Dixon may have lost control of his gun while using a “glock switch” tool that converts a pistol into an automatic weapon.

The documents add that Dixon is a documented gang member and has an extensive history with Round Rock Police.

He’s previously been arrested for violent offenses including robbery, terroristic threat, assault, and evading arrest.

Dixon is currently facing a charge of deadly conduct. The first suspect arrested, Ricky Tyrone Thompson III, 17, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting one of the victims injured in the mass shooting at Old Settlers Park on June 15, 2024. The second suspect, a minor at the time of the shooting, was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center, where his case will be handled behind closed doors.

So far, no murder charges have been filed in connection to the shooting that killed two women and injured 14 others.

Dixon and his attorneys are scheduled to appear before a judge on August 7, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Courthouse.
