ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Escambia County, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and District 3 Commissioner Lumon May are partnering to host the county’s annual Juneteenth celebration.

The night will feature baseball, fireworks, and family activities to commemorate Juneteenth.

The event is set to kick off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, ahead of the matchup between the Blue Wahoos and the Chattanooga Lookouts, which is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

The first 1,000 fans who visit the community outside of the tent will get free tickets to the game as well as a free hat and a concession voucher.

“I’m very excited to bring the community together to commemorate Juneteenth, which is such an important part of our shared history,” Commissioner May said. “I encourage everyone to join us to celebrate and reflect on Juneteenth while enjoying a fun night of baseball and activities with the whole family.”

The celebration will also include educational opportunities, live music, vendors with a postgame firework show.

Additional partners in the Juneteenth Celebration include the City of Pensacola and the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission.
