TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Lucas County and the City of Toledo will be raising the Pan-African flag Friday to honor Juneteenth and kick off a series of events.
The flag-raising and events following will be to celebrate the contributions of Black Americans and commemorate the emancipation of those who had been enslaved.
The City of Toledo, Lucas County and other community partners will raise the flag at 10 a.m. Friday at One Government Center.
Over the course of the next week, there will be multiple city-wide events to celebrate Juneteenth. A list of events can be found below.
