The Hanover County NAACP is set to host its Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Randolph-Macon College, 204 Henry Street, Ashland, VA.

This year’s event, themed “Boots on the Ground,” is to honor the ongoing fight for equality and justice through music, movement and community engagement. This free, family-friendly celebration will feature an afternoon of live music, local food vendors and cultural reflection.







Get ready for the Hanover NAACP's Juneteenth celebration!

 The Hanover County Branch was established in 1946 at the First Union Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia with the dream of having an organization dedicated to the realization of the principles of equality and justice for all.




Bringing chairs is encouraged, and the NAACP hopes the community is “ready to dance, eat and celebrate Black excellence”.

The musical lineup includes performances by:

• William Carter• Hattie Weatherless• Unity Gospel Band • Kemel Patton, the RVA Line Dance King • Soul Unlimited • Burning Fire

Local food favorites including Cason Funnel Cakes, Hawk’s BBQ, Mobile Yum Yum, Sweet Temptations by Teresa and Touché Pies & Fries will be on-site offering delicious fare.

“This event is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action,” said Patricia Hunter-Jordan, President of the Hanover NAACP. “We chose the theme ‘Boots on the Ground’ to highlight the ongoing need for collective movement and local engagement in the fight for freedom and equality.
