GRAYSVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – The heat did not stop the Juneteenth celebration in Graysville.
The Graysville Southeast Neighborhood Association’ second annual Juneteenth celebration had line dancing, fried fish among other foods, and lots of fellowship for people in and around northwest Jefferson County.
After a brief education session to kick things off, there was plenty for people in the community to enjoy.
“We are just having an amazing time” said comedienne Donna Brown. “Everybody in the surrounding communities, Adamsville, Graysville, the Docena area, some Walker County, coming out to celebrate Juneteenth. Awesome!”
Neighborhood Association Secretary Pinkie White said the day started with a brief educational session before relaxing with fun and food.
“Because we know our past, we’re here to celebrate it and we are here to celebrate going forward” said White. “We’re not looking backwards, we’re looking forward.”
