They are open Tuesday through Friday, 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 a.m. to 5 p.m
• $2.50/per person for all ages to swim.
• $3.50/per person for all ages to swim and slide.
June 19 marks Juneteenth, which is a federally recognized holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved individuals in Texas on June 19, 1865.
The day was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021 when the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act was signed into effect.
This means that on Juneteenth federal employees receive a paid day off and most federal offices are closed.
Will Juneteenth be celebrated this year in Louisiana?
The third Saturday in June, which is June 21 this year, is recognized and designated as Juneteenth Day throughout the state of Louisiana and, in honor of the day, African Americans celebrate as Emancipation Day, says Louisiana State Legislature.
“The celebration of this day has grown into a special day celebrating this freedom as well as a day of learning, sharing, and giving respect to the history, culture, and achievements of African Americans,” says Louisiana State Legislature.
Are some Juneteenth events being cancelled?
Despite being a federally recognized holiday, several Juneteenth events have been cancelled throughout the U.S., with some organizers citing the current political climate as a cause for cancellation, according to Newsweek.
These cancellations come after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January to rescind federal DEI initiatives, however, Juneteenth event organizers have not specifically cited Trump ending federal DEI programs as a reason for cancelling events, Clarion Ledger reported.
Will postal services be available on Juneteenth?
Since Juneteenth is a federal holiday, the U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on June 19. However, private companies like UPS and FedEx will run as normal on Juneteenth.
Will banks be open on Juneteenth?
Most banks will likely be closed for the holiday on June 19, however, ATM services will still be available.
