Juneteenth Broadway Concert to Feature Jasmine Amy Rogers, Kecia Lewis, NaTasha Yvette Williams, More

Tony winner André De Shields will receive the Juneteenth Legacy Award at the free concert hosted by two-time Tony winner Kara Young and Jon Michael Hill.

The lineup of performers is now set for the fifth annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert. Presented by The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative, the free outdoor concert will be held June 19 at Duffy Square in Times Square.

Two-time Tony winner Kara Young and Tony nominee Jon Michael Hill, who currently co-star in the 2025 Tony-winning Best Play Purpose, will host the concert that honors Black artistry,
culture, and unity. 

The 2025 Juneteenth Legacy Award will be presented to Tony-winning actor/activist, educator, and philanthropist André De Shields,
who is being recognized for his trailblazing career that has spanned
over five decades, including iconic performances in The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Full Monty, and Hadestown.

The event, which runs 11 AM-12:30 PM rain or shine, will feature an all-Black Broadway cast
performing Broadway musical numbers, including cast members from Aladdin;
& Juliet; BOOP! The Musical; Buena Vista Social Club; Chicago; Gypsy; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; Hell’s Kitchen;
The Lion King; MJ the Musical; Moulin Rouge! The Musical; Pirates! The Penzance Musical; Ragtime; Real Women
Have Curves; Six: The Musical;
and Wicked. The fifth annual event will also see the return of the kids of Young Gifted and Broadway. All performances
will be accompanied by live music.

“Now in its fifth year, Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth
continues to commemorate the importance of this national holiday through
music, dance, and community,” said Jason Laks, president of The
Broadway League, in an earlier statement.
“It’s incredibly meaningful to see the Broadway community and audiences
come together in Times Square to celebrate, and we are deeply grateful
for the support of our partners and sponsors that allow us to make this
annual event so special.”

The creative and production teams include director and writer Steve
H. Broadnax III, music director Rashad McPherson, executive producers
Devon Miller and Kendra Whitlock Ingram, stage manager Monet Thibou, and
general manager Devon Miller of Foresight Theatrical.

The goal of Black to Broadway is
to inspire deeper engagement with awareness of, and access to, Broadway
for all Black people. Created by The Broadway League in 2019, this
initiative is an industry-wide celebration of the Black community on
Broadway—on stage, in the audience, behind the scenes, and as leaders
in the Broadway community.
