
The Huntington Community Juneteenth Committee is looking to add DJs and poets to the celebration on June 21 at Heckscher Park.
The festival will incude music, giveaways, dancing, cultural experiences, historic reflections and the awarding of scholarships.
Scholarships are open to graduating Huntington Town high school students. Qualifying students can obtain applications at their high school guidance office or by contacting the Huntington Tri Community & Youth Agency (TRI-CYA), located at 809 New York Avenue, Huntington.

The Juneteenth federal holiday marks the day in 1865 when Union forces ordered the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War.
The Huntington Juneteenth Celebration Committee consist of community leaders, clergy, Town cultural and historical organizations, youth organizations and groups, and advocacy organizations with support from the Town of Huntington.
