MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Juneteenth is a federal holiday annually recognized on June 19, commemorating the day of emancipation for enslaved people.
Numerous events are happening in the ArkLaMiss to celebrate the holiday.
Lincoln Parish
Grambling Juneteenth Heritage Festival
Multiple events are happening in Grambling leading up to the Grambling Juneteenth Heritage Festival. Some of the events included are a gala, gospel concert, parade and more.

City of Ruston Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Ruston’s Juneteenth Celebration is on June 14 at Railroad Park, located at 101 E. Park Avenue. The event will feature special guest Mike Jr.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and a concert starts at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10, and children 5 and under get in for free.
Morehouse Parish
History Comes to Life – Black History Wax Museum
The Robinson Williams Restoration of Hope Community Center, the Morehouse Community Development Corporation, and ABJ outreach are bringing history to life with this pop-up museum on June 19.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Restoration of Hope Community Center, located at 1510 Elm Street in Bastrop.
Refreshments will be provided.
Tickets for people over 12 cost $5, and tickets for children 12 and under cost $2. Tickets can be bought in advance on Eventbrite, by calling the Robinson-Williams Restoration of Hope Community Center at (318) 499-2139, or by calling Latetao Hutchinson at (318) 282-5872.
Tickets can also be bought at the door.
Ouachita Parish
Juneteenth Friends and Family Celebration
Join the Northeast Louisiana Delta African American Heritage Museum at 1051 Chennault Park Drive in Monroe on Saturday, June 14, from noon to 5:30 p.m.
The event will have food, fun, games and entertainment.
