(KALB) – News Channel 5 is working to compile a list of Juneteenth events here in Cenla. Juneteenth is a federal holiday observed on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.

Sister to Sister with Mrs. Remonica Washington from Dallas, Texas at Mt. Zion MBC Lifecenter at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, June 10

Empowerment Summit at the Bolton Avenue Community Center at 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 12

“Unity” with Bishop/Pastor James Dixon from Houston, Texas at the Rebirth Ministry at 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 14

Alexandria’s Annual Parade/Celebration held downtown on the steps of City Hall at 6 p.m.

Monday, June 16

Juneteenth Musical Celebration – Black Music Month at Mt. Zion MBC at 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 19

Worship Together at Mt. Zion MBC with guest speaker Pastor Maurice Watcon from Little Rock, Arkansas at 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 21

Juneteenth Freedom Parade in Natchitoches at 3 p.m.

Juneteenth Gala at the Paragon Casino in Marksville from 6 p.m. – 12 p.m. Cocktail hour is at 5 p.m. Table of 10 = $500. Individual = $65. No outside food or drinks. Dinner will be served. Cash bar.
