DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Celebrations for Juneteenth have officially begun as the annual Juneteenth Festival was held in LeClaire Park Saturday.
A variety of food trucks and vendors were in attendance, including numerous local businesses.
Tents were set up with exhibits and presentations detailing the significance of Juneteenth and African American contributions to the area.
An organizer with the event told KWQC that the resources are for everyone.
“I tink the important thing to understand about Juneteenth and the vendors that we have, its not just for African Americans and the resources the vending aren’t just for African Americans,” Ryan Saddler, Board Chair of Friends of MLK said. “These vendors are just doing local business, entities, are here to tell people about the resources they offer.”
Miss Juneteenth of the Quad Cities 2025 was also crowned and the winner was Mariella Mendez.
