EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – In Evansville, a Juneteenth event at Ivy Tech kicked off Tuesday.
On campus, student entrepreneurs, food trucks, and businesses met in the common area for celebration.
Melinda Thomas, Ivy Tech’s Diversity Lead and Assistant Director of Recruitment, says this event is about creating connections for students and the community.
Thomas says there is still much work to be done when it comes to honoring and understanding Juneteenth’s history.
In honor of this day, Ivy Tech will not have any classes Wednesday.
