HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – Officials from multiple organizations in Hazard are working to put together an event for Juneteenth.
The holiday will be celebrated on June 19.
Leaders in Perry County, Hazard Community and Technical College, and the Southeast Kentucky African American Museum and Cultural Center are working together to organize the event.
” We’ll all be getting together for a lunch and learn session to learn all about the history of Juneteenth and enjoy some excellent food. So, it’s a free event. We hope that everyone will come down and that’s this Wednesday,” said HCTC President Dr. Jennifer Lindon.
The event is at the Art Station beginning at noon.
