
Juneteenth is Thursday, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about the history of the day while exploring the Evansville area.
There are celebrations planned through the weekend to honor the day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Tuesday, June 17
Design Your Own Kente Cloth
EVPL Stringtown will host an event where attendees can design their own Kente Cloth.
This will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Thursday, June 19
Henderson, Kentucky, Juneteenth celebration
Henderson, Kentucky, will host a Juneteenth celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Central Park.
Young & Established Juneteenth celebration
Young & Established will host a Juneteenth celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday
This event is open to the public and will take place at the Y&E Community Center at 1308 Vann Ave.
There will be music, food trucks, local vendors and more.
Otters Salute to the Negro Leagues
The Evansville Otters will hold the fifth annual Salute to the Negro Leagues game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Free tickets are currently available at the Evansville African American Museum.
Friday, June 20
Juneteenth crafts
EVPL East will host a Juneteenth craft event from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in its auditorium.
Saturday, June 21
Angel Mounds free day
Angel Mounds will be free to enter in honor of Juneteenth on Saturday.
Lyles Station Juneteenth
Lyles Station, right outside Princeton, Indiana, will celebrate Juneteenth at 11 a.m. Saturday. The event will include a performance by the Freetown Village Singers.
