A free event will bring community members in McAlester together for a “vibrant celebration of freedom, culture and unity” this month.
Thursday, June 19, also known as Juneteenth, will mark and commemorate the abolition of slavery in the United States. A Juneteenth Jubilee will celebrate this with a family-friendly event from 6-9 p.m. in McAlester’s Hunter Park.
