The library has been hosting Juneteenth-themed events all week, to give everyone an opportunity to join together in honoring the past and celebrating the future.
“Juneteenth is really important, the history is important and something you don’t want to forget,” said Ricky Sherfield Jr., who coordinated events this week.
”We want to recognize, so we want to remember what happened. But we also want to…build off of that and celebrate that.
“And be able to show the younger generation they have the opportunity to learn what Juneteenth is and what it means”.
