JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Juneteenth celebrations are underway, and the fourth annual Jonesboro Juneteenth parade took place on Saturday, June 14.
KLEK-FM hosted the parade as part of their Juneteenth events and celebrations.
The parade started at St. Bernard’s Auditorium and went to Washington Avenue and Church Street.
Juneteenth Coordinator Allie Tabor talks about what Juneteenth means to her.
“It’s the first time in American History where everybody experienced freedom. It’s great that the country was freed from British rule with the American Revolution, but this was the first time that everyone in the country was free, and that should be celebrated,” she said.
KLEK-FM will continue celebrating Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19th, with their annual fireworks show.
