Set for Thursday, June 19, at Kilgore City Park from 6 to 9 p.m., the whole family can bring the kids for the pool, splash pad food, music and fireworks. Local food vendors, live musician performances and a spirit of community will mark this special holiday, honoring the legacy of freedom for African-Americans.

Memorial Day, the day marked for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, is observed on the last Monday of May each year.
