Mark your calendar for Kilgore Men and Women of Alliance’s Juneteenth Fireworks Show. Set for Thursday, June 19, at Kilgore City Park from 6 to 9 p.m., the whole family can bring the kids for the pool, splash pad food, music and fireworks. Local food vendors, live musician performances and a spirit of community will mark this special holiday, honoring the legacy of freedom for African-Americans.

Kilgore Public Library wants to knows: Who can make the tallest tower using only straws and tape? Kids ages 8+ can test their engineering skills at KPL’s STEM activity this month. Set for Wednesday May 28, the event will take place from 4 to 5 p.m.

Memorial Day, the day marked for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, is observed on the last Monday of May each year. This year, it will fall on May 26, giving Kilgoreites and those around the nation a chance to mourn, honor and respect the fallen.
