St. Louis gears up for vibrant Juneteenth celebrations, marking the 160th anniversary with festivals, parades, and community events starting June 14.
ST. LOUIS — Every year in June, communities gather together to honor Juneteenth.
Juneteenth celebrates the liberation of the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Now in 2025, the 160th anniversary will be commemorated.
St. Louis is embracing this historic anniversary with a lively and varied schedule of activities that honor the city’s strong cultural heritage, creative spirit and dedication to unity.
This year’s Juneteenth events are expected to be as vibrant and significant as the tradition they honor, featuring everything from youth block parties and soulful blues performances to family-friendly festivals and elegant nighttime galas.
