
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A local church celebrated Juneteenth and Father’s Day while recognizing a100-year-old resident.
The St. James Missionary Baptist Church celebrated the history of the African American community and the fathers who made it their home.

The event recognized 100-year-old Larnell Johnson, who is believed to be the oldest living former resident of the Steptoe neighborhood. Born in 1925, he attended the Penn School, a historic Black school near Westport.
The event also featured music by the Step Above Plaza quartet, a Steptoe history exhibit and an art show by Black artists.
