LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock community is welcome to celebrate Juneteenth this year at three different events.
Host RealDealCares says “these events aim to uplift, inform, and connect community members as we reflect on the journey from enslavement to freedom and beyond.“
The first event is a Juneteenth Game Night: Culture Edition. It will be at 5:30 p.m. on June 16 at TJ Patterson Library. According to a release, guests will be able to play Black history bingo, “Name That Tune”, trivia and other games inspired by culture.
Next is the Juneteenth Knowledge Bowl. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. on June 20 at the same library. The night will feature team competitions that will challenge participants with questions about Black history, culture and achievements.
The final event is Let Freedom Sing: Juneteenth Gospel Night. It is an evening of worship and celebration and will have gospel singers, praise teams and more. This will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 22 at St. John’s Baptist Church.
All events are free and open to everyone.
