SPOKANE, Wash. – The NAACP Spokane Branch is set to celebrate Juneteenth with a special event featuring Cliff Avril, former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl star, and musical guest Alethea Dumas.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will take place at Gonzaga University’s Hemmingson Center, 3rd floor Ballroom.
The celebration includes a “fireside chat” with Avril, focusing on the meaning of Juneteenth and the importance of community unity. “This discussion will foster a warm and respectful conversation centered on empowerment,” said Lisa Gardner, NAACP Spokane President.
Spokane’s first Miss Juneteenth and her court will also attend the event. Community members are invited to join this free celebration to engage in meaningful dialogue and unity.
