Juneteenth is right around the corner, and Music City will have many festivities!

Also known as Jubilee Day, Emancipation Day, Freedom Day or Black Independence Day, June 19, 2025 marks the fourth official year that Juneteenth is marked as a federal holiday. In Nashville, there will be several events to celebrate.

Taste of Freedom: Juneteenth Restaurant Week (June 12-22)

Local Black-owned restaurants are offering specials or discounts during the week of Juneteenth. The restaurants participating are:

Fireworks at Fort Negley

Historic Fort Negley will host a firework celebration on June 19 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. There will a Proclamation Ceremony along with food trucks and live music. This event is free but does require an RSVP.

Also at Fort Negley, there will be guided art and theater immersion tours from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. All tours are directed by Shawn Whitsel.

Black on Buchanan

This fun block party will be hosted on June 14 in a historically black neighborhood. It is from 3 – 6 p.m. and there will be food trucks, a kid’s zone and special guest DJs.

Music City Freedom Festival

The Music City Freedom Festival will be hosted on June 14 and 15 at Hadley Park. This event is free and open to the public.

Tennessee State Museum Juneteenth Celebration

The Tennessee State Museum in Downtown Nashville will have a Juneteenth Celebration with musical guests, story time tours and children’s activities.

Nashville African American Wind Symphony Juneteenth Concert

The Schermerhorn Symphony Center will be hosting will be hosting the Nashville African American Wind Symphony for their Juneteenth Concert on June 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Music City Juneteenth Freedom Day 5K Run/Walk

Bhegani Education Foundation, Ramsey’s Reach Foundation and Transformation Life Center -Brown Boys Read are all charities that will benefit from the Music City Juneteenth Freedom Day 5K Run/Walk. The pre-packet pickup is on June 18 from 12-5 p.m. at Slim & Husky’s Pizza and the actual race is on June 19 at 7:30 a.m. at Shelby Park. Please visit this website to sign up.
