ST. JOHNSBURY — Select board members approved a new contract for the town’s Department of Public Works employees on Monday that establishes a new pay scale, pays extra for snow removal and makes Juneteenth a paid holiday.

The new contract covers 13 members of the DPW crew. Selectmen Frank Empsall and Dennis Smith and Town Manager Chad Whitehead negotiated the contract on the town’s behalf. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees negotiated on behalf of the union’s employees. Membership in the union is voluntary.
