CLEVELAND — MetroHealth spent Friday setting up for their Freedom Fest on Saturday.
The festival is meant to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday, and MetroHealth said they expect more than 10,000 people to attend this year’s Freedom Fest.
Arlene Anderson, a MetroHealth employee who helped plan the festival, is excited.
“The purpose of this event really is to educate, celebrate and just activate our participants and come together as a community,” she said.
Anderson said she hopes people can make it out to the festival and experience the food, music, vendors and more.
“It’s really important for our community to come together and celebrate and learn about our history,” she said.
Feet Geeks, a streetwear and sneaker store in Cleveland, is one of the vendors a part of the festival. Feet Geeks’ owner, Madison Williams, said it’s their second year participating.
“Along with July 4, we celebrate freedom,” he said. “We also celebrate on Juneteenth too.”
Williams began his business back in 2017 and now participates in events like this to inspire people. Williams expressed that he wants the festival to be a celebration and a reminder of the holiday’s importance.
“It just represents freedom,” he said. “Having the freedom to do what you want to do. You know, just the freedom to be an entrepreneur and make your own type of business that you want to make, like I did.”
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
