PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – The city of Prichard held a closing ceremony earlier today for its Juneteenth celebrations.
The four-day extravaganza concluded with a parade in downtown Prichard. There were also vendors, a farmer’s market, a kids’ corner, live music performances, a watermelon festival and a health fair.
Former President Joe Biden in 2021 made Juneteenth a federal holiday.
Juneteenth is celebrated annually to commemorate the end slavery in the United States.
