The Scottsboro Boys Museum will be holding a celebration event for Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19. The museum will open for free tours at 9:30 a.m. before the program starting at 11 a.m. Guests are encouraged to eat lunch and commune afterwards.
There will be food trucks, music and outdoor activities for families to enjoy.
The keynote speaker for the event will be former Alabama Attorney General Bill Baxley. During his time as attorney general, Baxley was a key figure in obtaining a pardon for the last living Scottsboro Boy, Clarence Norris, in 1976. Baxley also has ties to Scottsboro, prosecuting the 1975 Hugh Otis Bynum case.
