East Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – Here is a look at the weather where you live: Happy Wednesday, East Texas! Today will be our last decent chance for showers and thundershowers before skies dry out for most of the area tomorrow. Today’s rain chances are being fueled by newly formed Tropical Storm Alberto in the western Gulf of Mexico. We will not see any significant impacts from this tropical system, but it will drive lots and lots of rain to our southwest, primarily in southern Texas as well as northern and central Mexico over the next couple of days as it advances due west. Temperatures will trend near average for our Juneteenth thanks to the rain and extra cloud cover, with most only warming into the upper 80s or low 90s during the heat of the day. Our “cooler weather” will be short lived however, as sunshine and higher pressure will lead to a very quick warm up tomorrow. Thursday marks the first official day of Summer and it’ll certainly feel like it as highs will near 93°. We’ll trend even hotter Friday and over the weekend with most warming into the middle 90s but with heat indices reaching upwards of 100°+, so be sure to include lots of water and shade if you have any outdoor plans this weekend. A few showers/t’showers will be possible on Monday and Tuesday, but most look to remain hot and dry.
