TAZEWELL, Va. (WVVA) – The Juneteenth celebrations continued Sunday morning in Tazewell.
Gathering at Nuckolls Hall were Tazewell County locals, coming together to continue the Juneteenth holiday with worship, praise, and plenty of music.
Coordinators with the event told WVVA that the service is for fellowship and it’s meant for everyone.
“We believe it’s a community event. So, it’s just not for just a certain group of people, it’s for the whole community, so we try to bring the whole community together,” said Jeanette Wilson, a coordinator with the 7th annual Juneteenth Celebration.
Followed with a community dinner, the service marked a continued celebration of the holiday, furthering the hope of togetherness behind it.
“It’s all about unity. It’s all about everybody coming together for one common goal and that is to just keep pushing forward, keep moving forward in the future and not repeat history of course,” said Jaden Redd, also a coordinator of the event.
As the weekend came to a close, Tazewell residents shared their heritage, faith and culture, enjoying both Juneteenth and their neighbors.
Happy Juneteenth!
