
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn’t consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Trail Day at Old Church Lane Preserve
Old Church Lane Preserve is a beautiful sanctuary comprised of both wetland and forested areas. Volunteers are needed to join Preserve Manager Ben Kleist and Conservation Technician Stella Verseci for a day of trail maintenance and invasive plant removal. Volunteers will see firsthand what Westchester Land Trust’s stewardship team does on a daily basis—and maybe even pick up some ideas for their own homes!

Juneteenth Festival
Parenting Children of Color is seeking volunteers to help with its annual Juneteenth Celebration. Activities include setup and cleanup, hanging signs, greeting guests, and overseeing some of the activity stations. All volunteers will receive a snack and bottle of water. Volunteers should be able to perform a fair amount of physical activity and be at least 18+ (or 14+ if registering as part of an adult’s team).

Volunteer Drivers & Coordinators for Seniors
New Rochelle Cares is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteer drivers to assist with providing rides to seniors in the community, as well as volunteer coordinators to help schedule those rides. Help give an older neighbor a lift to the grocery store, medical appointment, or social outing! Volunteers must be 21+.

RiverArts Music Tour Volunteers
The annual RiverArts Music Tour features music from over 250 performers throughout backyards, gardens, village businesses, churches, community centers, and open green spaces on the banks of the Hudson River. It’s the largest, family-friendly, free event for music lovers in lower Westchester County. Volunteers are needed to staff each of the performance venues for two hours and check-in audience members. Volunteers can also the performances before or after their shifts.
