What’s open and closed on Juneteenth in Colorado Springs?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Multiple agencies in Colorado Springs will be closed in observance of Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the day enslaved people in Texas learned they had been freed.

The following administrative and elected administrative offices and agencies will be closed:

  • Administrative offices for Mountain Metropolitan Transit
  • City Administration Building
  • City Auditorium
  • City Clerk
  • City Hall
  • Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
  • Deerfield, Hillside, Meadows Park and Westside Community Centers
  • Municipal Court
  • Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Administrative Building
  • Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site
  • Sales Tax Office
  • Sports Office at Memorial Park
  • Therapeutic Recreation Program at Westside Community Center

The following facilities will remain open:

  • Evergreen and Fairview cemeteries
    • 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Gates are open to visitors, and offices are closed
  • Garden of the Gods Park
    • 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center 
    • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Patty Jewett and Valley Hi golf courses – weather permitting
    • Opens 6:30 a.m.
    • Last tee time is approximately four hours before sunset for 18-holes and two-and-a-half hours before sunset for 9-holes
  • Patty Jewett Bar & Grill – indoor dining
    • 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • CADDIE’S at Valley Hi– indoor dining
    • 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain – weather permitting
    • Gates open at 7:30 a.m., Pikes Peak Summit closes at 7 p.m., and the downhill gate closes at 8 p.m.
    • The Pikes Peak Shuttles begin at 9:30 a.m. 
      • Tickets are required, and the price includes a One-Day Admission Pass.
    • For vehicles traveling past Mile 7 on the Pikes Peak Highway, a $2 Timed-Entry Permit is required in addition to a One-Day Admission.
    • Recreationalists visiting the North Slope Recreation Area must purchase a Daily $1 Parking Permit and an NSRA One-Day Admission Pass.
  • Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center 
    • Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
