Celebrated on June 19, Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth has been a federal holiday since June 17, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.
This year, the holiday will be observed on Thursday, June 19.
