AUSTIN, Texas — For the fourth year in a row, Juneteenth will be celebrated as a federal holiday in the U.S.

The date honors the moment when the last group of  enslaved people in the country learned about the end of slavery 160 years ago in Galveston, Texas. 

While federal offices like post offices and courts are closed on the holiday, many cities will host celebrations before, during and after June 19.
