Ralph Williams of Cordova, an organizer for a Juneteenth event in Cordova on Thursday, June 19, spoke to the Walker County Commission at its recent meeting about the event and an effort to have early positive interactions between local young African Americans and law enforcement.

The Juneteenth Freedom Day will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at St. James CME Church at 49th Street in Cordova. There will be music, vendors, food trucks, games and other activities.
