This was Carthage’s first Miss Juneteenth pageant. As a contestant Wells used her platform to create a community project. Her goal was to raise $1,000 to give to the Turner Park Revitalization. She quickly surpassed her goal with the outpouring support of local Community members and businesses. Turner Park is in desperate need of restoration, and Wells is very passionate about seeing it rebuilt. On June 22, she presented Turner Park with a check in the amount of $1,875.

Wells plans to continue to use her platform as Miss Juneteenth to serve in the community, be an example to other young girls, and continue to help fill the gaps by giving back wherever she can.
