BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Break out the grill and pop open the sunscreen at these two summer music festivals celebrating the Fourth of July and Juneteenth in Navasota.

The Juneteenth celebration will be included in the “Songs of Navasota” concert series that is back for another year. It will happen June 21 starting at 7:30 p.m. with live music from Zydeco Joseph and the H Town players, alongside food and drink vendors and indoor activities for kids.

Marketing and Communications Director Taylor Hughes said she is also excited for their upcoming “Freedom Festival” which has quickly grown into the largest event their city hosts.

There will be kids activities, inflatables, water slides, face painting and a parade that ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Registration for the parade is still open and Hughes recommends signing up as early as possible.

Hughes said she hopes the community will come out to both events and take full advantage of all the fun.

“I think it’s just important for us to host those community events and offer free resident events,” Hughes said. “They can come right out their back door and it’s right there and we’re offering lots of different music bands this year.”
