
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Juneteenth is a federal holiday that celebrates the day in 1865 when enslaved African-Americans in Texas were told that they had been freed through the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Alaska’s News Source anchor Ariane Aramburo talked to coordinators Jasmin Smith and Erin Jackson-Hill about the Juneteenth celebrations in Anchorage.
