BEDFORD—The city announced today that all non-emergency Bedford City Offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day. This closure will impact several city services, with adjustments made to transportation and waste collection schedules.
Residents should take note of the following changes:
- City Offices: All Bedford City Offices will be closed for the entire day on Thursday, June 19th.
- TASC Buses: The TASC bus service will not be running on Thursday, June 19th.
- Thursday Trash Routes: Residents with regularly scheduled Thursday trash pickup will experience no change to their service on June 19th. Their trash will be collected as regularly scheduled.
- Special Assistance/Rear Loader Routes: Collections for these routes, typically serviced on Thursdays, will be delayed and picked up on Monday, June 23rd.
- Compost Routes: Compost collection routes that would typically fall on Thursday, June 19th, will be picked up one day later, on Friday, June 20th.
Juneteenth National Independence Day commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
Bedford City officials encourage residents to plan accordingly for these holiday adjustments and wish everyone a meaningful Juneteenth observance.
