
The city of Columbia has awarded a Juneteenth Grant to all 12 applicants for the award, representing both new and existing events and initiatives for Juneteenth.
The applications were evaluated by a committee based on a set criteria. The following events and initiatives were awarded the grant:
- Columbia NAACP Juneteenth Kickoff Celebration: Columbia NAACP
- Let Freedom Ring: Columbia African American Business Alliance
- Celebration at Douglass Park: COMO Juneteenth
- Powerhouse Annual Juneteenth Event: Powerhouse
- Honoring the Past for a Bright Future: A Juneteenth Celebration: Columbia Housing Authority Moving Ahead Program
- Fearless and Free: Greater Love Outreach
- St. Paul Juneteenth Legacy: St. Paul AME Church
- 2025 Juneteenth Gospel Fest: Fifth Street Christian Church
- Biffy Juneteenth Celebration: Biffy Styles
- From Struggle to Strength, We Rise: Dream Tree Academy
- Juneteenth Journey: Honoring Survivors, Empowering Voices: Boone County Community Against Violence
- Juneteenth Celebration: Arts, Culture & Community: Orr Street Studios
In fall 2024, the city of Columbia applied for and was awarded grant funding from the Missouri Arts Council, which provided financial support to organizations hosting Juneteenth celebrations around Missouri.
A total of $29,800 was awarded and fully distributed to grant recipients.
A workshop for grant recipients will be held to offer guidance on accessing the grant funds and completing the required post-event report.
This workshop is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road.
